A blog about running a small (very small) custom art company while chasing around two young children.

Naked Man Alert
So I'm hanging out on my porch talking to my husband after he got home from work. Our neighbor gets home and goes inside. I see him walk past his open living room window and then he walked past it again, NAKED. Now we aren't talking Brad Pitt in Fight Club body, we are talking my retinas are burning body. I don't get it. Does he not realize the window is wide open, perhaps he doesn't care. But I will be sure to avert my eyes from now on. So please, do your neighbors a favor, if you feel the need to dwell in your house naked check the curtains and make sure they are CLOSED.

Been Awhile
I've been slacking on the blogging. I haven't done any oil paintings recently. I didn't get into the art show which left me a bit turned off. Not to worry, I'm over it now and onto new things. I have a few days coming up with lots of time available and I plan on doing a large oil painting then.
I have been doing a few drippy acrylic paintings. They are fun for just screwing around and not worrying about what the outcome is going to be:

UPDATE: This sweet little painting is on it's way to Germany. Thanks!!!!

Woodpecker!
We have heard and seen glimpses of a pileated woodpecker in our front yard for the last few weeks. We live in a neighborhood so we were surprised to see one at all. Imagine how startled I was yesterday when I walked up to our front window to look outside and saw one in our front yard pecking away at a decaying tree stump full of termites! He hung out for three to four minutes and didn't even budge when a car drove by. Pretty exciting.

Baby Snail
Check this little guy out. My son and I were outside when we found this teeny baby snail. He was so cute I thought about keeping him. But, we let him go fulfill his snail destiny.

Self Portrait Thoughts
I've been working on a self portrait. I think that may be the hardest thing to paint. You really have to face your inner demons and accept what you truly look like. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike what I look like, but I think what we each see in the mirror is a bit different than what everyone else sees when they look at us. The tricky part is painting the actuality. I'm going to try to finish it up tonight. We'll see how it turns out!

Kristen and Chase
I just finished this portrait of my sister-in-law and her newborn Chase. I did this at the request of my mother-in-law. I think it looks great!
